What's Happening?
Lockheed Martin has introduced the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Adapted Capability Effector (PAC-3 ACE) at the Farnborough International Airshow 2026. The PAC-3 ACE is a cost-effective interceptor designed
for the Patriot air defense system, featuring a blast fragmentation warhead instead of the traditional hit-to-kill warhead. This change, along with other modifications such as a simplified seeker mode and the removal of attitude control motors, aims to reduce costs to less than half of the PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) interceptor. The PAC-3 ACE is intended to counter airbreathing and cruise missiles, as well as short-range ballistic missiles.
