What's Happening?
Tesla, in partnership with SpaceX, has initiated the Terafab project, a semiconductor manufacturing campus in Texas, with an initial investment of $16.8 billion. The facility aims to integrate chip manufacturing,
packaging, and testing, supporting Tesla's Optimus robots, self-driving vehicles, and SpaceX's orbital data centers. The project is expected to create 3,000 jobs and could expand into a $119 billion mega-campus. This move reflects Tesla's strategy to control hardware production for AI technologies, reducing reliance on external suppliers.
