What's Happening?
The D.C. Everest girls tennis team has made history by qualifying a doubles team and a singles player for the state tennis championships in Madison, a feat not achieved in over two decades for doubles (since 2005) and since 2012 for singles. Sophomore
Mikaela Hawley qualified in singles, while senior Brynn Kampmann and junior Athena Thor qualified in doubles. Coach Andrea Ingvalson expressed pride in the team's accomplishment, highlighting the dedication of the athletes. The three players took unique paths to this achievement: Hawley switched from playing right-handed to left-handed in eighth grade, Kampmann is a multi-sport athlete who started tennis in her sophomore year without formal lessons, and Thor, a multi-sport athlete with national-level club volleyball and pickleball experience, had only been playing tennis for about six months. Their diverse backgrounds and athletic prowess have converged to create a successful season for D.C. Everest tennis.
