Alberta Ann (Carll) Richards, a long-time resident of Buxton, passed away at the age of 93 on July 26, 2026, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Born on September 6, 1932, Alberta was known for her deep commitment to family and community. She attended
a one-room schoolhouse in her early years and later graduated from S.D. Hanson High School, where she was the captain of the girls' basketball team. Alberta married Earl U.B. Richards Jr. in 1951, and together they raised four sons. She was actively involved in various community organizations, including the Sokokis Snowmobiling Club and the Maine Golden Eagles Motorcycle Club. Alberta was also passionate about gardening, birdwatching, and spending time with her family.

A visitation and memorial service for Alberta Richards will be held on August 7 at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel in Buxton, followed by burial at South Buxton (Tory Hill) Cemetery. The family has invited friends and community members to pay their respects and celebrate Alberta's life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Tory Hill/First Congregational Church of Buxton. The community will continue to honor Alberta's memory by upholding the values she cherished and supporting the organizations she was passionate about.
