What's Happening?
Frosty Fox, a bubble tea franchise located near Oregon State University, is rebranding as SOKO Tea. The change is spearheaded by Kyeongmin Choi, a recent OSU graduate who took over the business in January 2025. With the franchise agreement ending, Choi aims
to create a unique brand that reflects his personal vision. The rebranding will focus on handcrafted beverages, eliminating food items like fried chicken and waffles to emphasize tea. The menu will incorporate Korean, Chinese, and American influences, aligning with Choi's cultural background. The rebranding also includes a refreshed interior design, while retaining the existing staff to maintain the community atmosphere. SOKO Tea is set to reopen in mid-September, coinciding with the return of students for the fall term.
Why It's Important?
The rebranding of Frosty Fox to SOKO Tea highlights a trend in the food and beverage industry towards personalized and culturally diverse offerings. By focusing on handcrafted beverages and incorporating various cultural influences, SOKO Tea aims to cater to a growing consumer demand for unique and healthier options. This move could set a precedent for other small businesses looking to differentiate themselves in a competitive market. Additionally, maintaining the existing staff underscores the importance of community and continuity in business transitions, which can enhance customer loyalty and support local employment.
