The Swedish island of Gotland has been chosen to host the 2031 Island Games, marking the third time it will host this biennial event. Previously, Gotland hosted the games in 1999 and 2017. The decision was confirmed by representatives of the 24 member
islands during a meeting in the Faroes. The event is scheduled to take place from June 28 to July 4, 2031. Fredrik Persson, chairman of the Gotland organizing committee, expressed satisfaction with the successful application process, which has been ongoing since 2024.
