What's Happening?
A group of immigrant entrepreneurs, known as Olim, have successfully established businesses in Israel, inspired by their Aliyah journeys. Rose Khan, Eli Gendelman, and David Bensimhon are among those who have turned their passions into enterprises. Khan, after
years in marketing and high-tech, transformed a thrift store into Brooklyn Sisters, blending Brooklyn vintage culture with Tel Aviv's energy. Gendelman, who moved from Washington, D.C., founded Pink Sink Art, creating accessible artwork inspired by Israeli society. Bensimhon, originally from London, launched PinPerfect, a company producing enamel pins celebrating Israeli identity. These entrepreneurs have found support within Israel's entrepreneurial community and through organizations like Nefesh B’Nefesh, which assists immigrants in navigating business challenges.
Why It's Important?
The success of these Olim entrepreneurs highlights the potential for immigrants to contribute significantly to Israel's economy and cultural landscape. By establishing businesses that reflect their unique backgrounds and passions, they enrich the local market with diverse products and services. Their stories underscore the importance of community support and resources in fostering entrepreneurship among immigrants. This development also illustrates the role of organizations like Nefesh B’Nefesh in facilitating successful integration and business development for new immigrants, which can lead to economic growth and cultural exchange.
What's Next?
The entrepreneurs plan to continue expanding their businesses while remaining rooted in Israel. Bensimhon aims to grow PinPerfect into a recognized brand both locally and internationally. Khan intends to expand Brooklyn Sisters and support fellow Olim entrepreneurs. Gendelman is focused on ongoing creativity and testing new ideas. Their future plans emphasize the importance of adaptability and community support in sustaining business growth. As they continue to innovate and expand, these entrepreneurs may inspire more immigrants to pursue similar paths, contributing to a vibrant and diverse entrepreneurial ecosystem in Israel.
