What's Happening?
The MLBx All-Star 3-on-3 event is set to feature a unique blend of Major League Baseball legends and stars from the American Ultimate Softball League (AUSL). This high-energy, co-ed competition involves players hitting home runs and making defensive plays
in a three-inning game format. Each player gets a two-minute at-bat, and teams earn points for home runs and catches, with bonus points available for hitting specific targets. Notable participants include Phillies legends Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins, and Shane Victorino, as well as Braves Hall of Famer Andruw Jones. Joining them from the AUSL are Alyssa Brito, Tiare Jennings, and Rachel Garcia, all of whom have impressive softball credentials, including College World Series titles and Olympic medals.
Why It's Important?
This event highlights the growing collaboration between baseball and softball, showcasing the talents of athletes from both sports on a shared platform. It provides an opportunity for fans to see their favorite MLB legends in a new, dynamic format while also introducing them to top softball players. The inclusion of AUSL stars underscores the increasing recognition and popularity of women's sports, particularly softball, which has been gaining traction in the U.S. This event could potentially attract a diverse audience, bridging the gap between traditional baseball fans and those who follow softball, thereby expanding the fan base for both sports.
