What's Happening?
Gypsum Hotel Partners is set to commence construction on a dual-brand Hilton Hotel near the Eagle County Regional Airport in Gypsum, Colorado. The project, which will feature a 140-room property operated by Crestline Hotels and Resorts, is expected to be
completed by early 2028. The hotel will include both a Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton and a Home2 Suites by Hilton, offering amenities such as two meeting rooms, complimentary breakfast, free Wi-Fi, an outdoor deck, firepits, an indoor pool, and a fitness center. The development is led by hospitality industry veteran Chris Manley and developer Bryan Desmond, with financing provided by FirstBank, now part of PNC.
Why It's Important?
This development marks a significant expansion of Hilton's presence in the Vail Valley, an area known for its outdoor recreational activities. The hotel's proximity to the Eagle County Regional Airport and major highways will make it a convenient option for travelers seeking access to the region's hiking, biking, fishing, golfing, and hunting opportunities. The project is also notable as one of the first new hotels in the area in over 25 years, potentially boosting local tourism and economic activity. The involvement of ArrowMark Partners, a Denver-based asset manager, underscores the project's financial backing and potential for success.
What's Next?
As construction progresses, stakeholders will likely monitor the project's impact on local tourism and the economy. The hotel's completion in 2028 will coincide with potential increases in visitor numbers to the Vail Valley, driven by its enhanced accommodation offerings. The development may also prompt further investment in the region's hospitality sector, encouraging other businesses to capitalize on the area's growing popularity as a tourist destination.
