Portland has seen the opening of The Off Beat, a new dedicated all-ages music venue, marking the city's first in over a decade. Located in a former strip club on North Interstate Avenue, the venue, which opened in February, is operated by Friends of Noise
(FoN), a nonprofit organization that has been staging all-ages concerts since 2016. The Off Beat hosts shows three to four nights a week, attracting young audiences. Unlike many other Portland venues that host occasional all-ages nights or allow minors in designated areas, The Off Beat is entirely alcohol-free. This approach addresses the financial challenges and strict state regulations associated with serving alcohol in venues that cater to underage concertgoers, which often require additional staffing and can deter venues from offering all-ages events.
