Amogy and 2G Energy have successfully tested a power generation system that can operate on both ammonia and natural gas, aimed at easing the electricity demand from AI data centers. The demonstration took place at Amogy's Houston facility, where an ammonia reformer
was used to produce a hydrogen-rich fuel stream for a reciprocating engine-generator. This system allows for fuel flexibility, enabling operators to switch between ammonia and natural gas as needed. The integrated platform met the technical requirements for future commercial use, providing a pathway toward lower-carbon operations. The modular design of the system allows for scalable power generation, which is crucial as computing demands increase.
