What's Happening?
Arizona Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill announced that construction on the team's new performance center is progressing rapidly. Speaking on KTAR News 92.3 FM’s The Mike Broomhead Show, Bidwill stated that concrete pouring for the foundations is expected
to begin in the coming days. The new facility, located near Scottsdale Road and the Loop 101 Pima Freeway in north Phoenix, is anticipated to be ready for occupancy within 23 months, with an official opening projected by summer 2028. This new site will replace the team's long-standing facility in Tempe. The Cardinals broke ground on the practice facility in February, having purchased the 217-acre parcel of land at a state land auction last year.
Why It's Important?
The construction of the Arizona Cardinals' new performance center represents a significant investment in the team's future and the broader community. The facility, which will include the team's headquarters and a 30-acre performance center, is expected to have a substantial impact on the area, increasing visibility and potentially attracting further development. Furthermore, Dignity Health plans to build a 300,000-square-foot medical campus at the new site, featuring a sports medicine institute and services from Barrow Neurological Institute. This medical campus will provide advanced healthcare services, benefiting both the team and the general public, and establishing a new hub for sports medicine in the region. The project signifies a long-term commitment to player development, health, and community engagement.
