What's Happening?
Workplace culture consulting firm Avtar Career Creators Limited and global talent solutions provider Seramount have introduced the 'Circle of Inclusive Cultures' (CIC). This new corporate membership platform aims to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion
(DEI) through cross-industry collaboration and peer learning. The initiative was unveiled at the Best of Best (BoB) Conference & Awards 2026 in Chennai, themed 'Culture as Capital.' The CIC will bring together corporate leaders throughout the year to share best practices, address workplace challenges, and develop more inclusive organizational cultures. Dr. S. Vijayakumar, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, led the virtual launch, emphasizing the link between industrial growth and social equity, particularly the need for wider participation from women. The platform will facilitate dedicated peer-learning groups for CEOs, chief human resources officers (CHROs), and diversity leaders, with membership open to all companies regardless of their prior participation in Avtar and Seramount's benchmarking indices.
Why It's Important?
The launch of the Circle of Inclusive Cultures signifies a growing recognition within the corporate sector of the strategic importance of DEI beyond mere compliance. By creating a structured platform for continuous learning and collaboration, the initiative aims to translate annual benchmarking insights into sustained organizational action. This approach can lead to more robust and resilient corporate cultures, which are increasingly vital for attracting and retaining top talent in a competitive global market. The emphasis on sharing both successful and unsuccessful initiatives allows companies to collectively refine their human capital practices, fostering a shared responsibility for creating equitable workplaces. This collaborative model could set a new standard for how U.S. companies approach DEI, moving from isolated efforts to a more integrated, industry-wide commitment, ultimately impacting employee satisfaction, innovation, and overall business performance.
What's Next?
The Circle of Inclusive Cultures will begin facilitating regular peer-learning groups for senior leaders, including CEOs, CHROs, and diversity leaders. Companies are expected to join the platform, engaging in ongoing discussions and sharing practical insights throughout the year. The initiative will complement existing benchmarking studies by Avtar and Seramount, extending their impact into continuous organizational development. Future conferences and events will likely integrate learnings and case studies emerging from the CIC, further disseminating best practices across industries. The success of this platform could encourage similar collaborative DEI initiatives in other regions or sectors, potentially influencing broader corporate strategies for workplace equity and inclusion.
Beyond the Headlines
This initiative reflects a deeper understanding that DEI is not a static goal but an ongoing journey requiring continuous adaptation and shared knowledge. The focus on 'Culture as Capital' highlights a shift in perspective, where an inclusive culture is viewed as a tangible asset contributing to business value. By encouraging leaders to share experiences, including failures, the CIC promotes a culture of transparency and collective problem-solving, which can accelerate progress in DEI. This collaborative model also subtly challenges the competitive nature of business by fostering cooperation on social equity issues, suggesting that certain societal advancements are best achieved through collective effort rather than individual corporate endeavors. The long-term impact could be a more standardized and effective approach to DEI across industries, leading to more equitable and productive work environments globally.
