FIFA President Gianni Infantino held discussions with Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne, Sports Minister Dwayne George Esquire, and Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) President Ickford Roberts. The meetings focused on the future
of football in the Caribbean nation, specifically addressing youth development and infrastructure. Key programs supporting these initiatives include FIFA’s Talent Development Scheme (TDS), which funds high-performance training for elite young players and supports the ABFA’s National Academy for ages 9 to 16. Additionally, the FIFA Football for Schools program, launched in 2023, aims to broaden children's access to the sport. Infrastructure development is also a priority, with 13 FIFA Forward projects approved since 2016, committing $15.4 million in funding. The ABFA is also advancing with the FIFA Arena program to create more playing opportunities for communities across the islands. During his visit, Mr. Infantino also watched Antigua and Barbuda defeat Anguilla 5-0 in a Concacaf Nations League match.
