What's Happening?
Aliensense, based in Abu Dhabi, has launched the NXS sensor board designed to simplify the integration of cameras and sensors into robotic systems. The board uses a single GMSL 2/3 cable for power, video, and sensor data, supporting connections up to 15
meters, extendable to 40 meters over CAN-FD. Compatible with MikroElektronika's Click ecosystem, the NXS board facilitates the use of various sensors and cameras, integrating with open-source robotics technologies like ROS 2 and OpenCyphal. The NXS 'Vanguard Edition' kit is available for pre-order at $199, with shipping starting on August 20, 2026.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of the NXS sensor board represents a significant advancement in robotics technology, offering a plug-and-play solution that reduces the complexity of integrating sensors and cameras. This development could accelerate the deployment of robotic systems across industries, enhancing automation and efficiency. By supporting open-source technologies, Aliensense is fostering innovation and collaboration within the robotics community, potentially leading to new applications and improvements in robotic capabilities.
