What's Happening?
SiriusXM is set to launch a new subscription plan called 'Sports Pass' on September 1, offering comprehensive sports coverage for $5 per month or $49 annually. This plan includes access to all live games and events broadcasted by SiriusXM, along with
local sports talk, exclusive sports channels, national sports programming, expert analysis, and podcasts. The launch coincides with the start of the college football and NFL seasons, providing fans with extensive coverage of their favorite sports. The 'Sports Pass' will also feature 24 local sports talk channels, including popular stations like WFAN in New York and ESPN LA 710.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of the 'Sports Pass' plan by SiriusXM represents a significant move to cater to sports fans who seek comprehensive and affordable access to live sports content. By offering a budget-friendly option, SiriusXM is likely to attract a broader audience, potentially increasing its subscriber base. This move could also intensify competition among sports media providers, prompting others to offer similar affordable packages. For sports enthusiasts, this plan provides an opportunity to stay connected with their favorite teams and events without the financial burden of more expensive subscriptions.
