What's Happening?
Humboldt Sawmill is organizing a series of five Humboldt Redwood Pro Certification & Loyalty Program events across the Western United States from December 2026 through April 2027. These events will take place at company-owned locations in California,
Washington, Utah, and Colorado. The program's primary objective is to equip industry professionals, including lumberyards, dealers, distributors, and building project specifiers, with comprehensive knowledge and resources for working with and specifying redwood products. Each in-person event will feature food and beverages, educational sessions on redwood products, and access to the company's mobile showroom. Participating companies will also be eligible for a $1,000 incentive, limited to one per participating company location. The two-hour sessions are scheduled to begin on December 8, 2026, at Allweather Wood in Woodland, CA, with subsequent events in Ukiah, CA; Washougal, WA; Woods Cross, UT; and Loveland, CO. Advance registration is required, and there will be no remote attendance option.
Why It's Important?
These events are significant for the U.S. building and construction industry, particularly for professionals involved in specifying and utilizing redwood products. By providing education and resources, Humboldt Sawmill aims to enhance the understanding and confidence of industry stakeholders in working with redwood, potentially increasing its usage in various building projects. The $1,000 incentive serves as a direct economic stimulus for participating companies, encouraging engagement and investment in redwood product knowledge. This initiative could lead to a more informed market for redwood, ensuring that its unique properties and applications are well understood by those who influence material selection. Furthermore, by focusing on in-person events, Humboldt Sawmill emphasizes direct engagement and hands-on learning, fostering stronger relationships within the industry and promoting a consistent message about the quality and benefits of redwood. This could also impact regional economies in the Western U.S. by supporting local businesses involved in the distribution and sale of building materials.
What's Next?
Following the series of certification events, Humboldt Sawmill will likely monitor the impact of the program on redwood sales and specification rates. The company may also gather feedback from participants to refine future educational initiatives and loyalty programs. The success of these in-person events could influence the development of similar programs for other building materials or regions. Industry professionals who attend these sessions are expected to apply their newfound knowledge in their respective roles, potentially leading to an increase in the specification and use of Humboldt Redwood products in upcoming projects. The incentive program could also encourage repeat business and foster stronger brand loyalty among participating companies. The data collected from these events could also provide valuable insights into market trends and preferences for redwood and other sustainable building materials.
Beyond the Headlines
The Humboldt Redwood Pro Certification & Loyalty Program reflects a broader industry trend towards specialized product education and relationship building within the U.S. construction sector. In an increasingly competitive market, manufacturers are investing in direct engagement with professionals to differentiate their products and ensure proper application. The focus on redwood, a natural and often sustainably sourced material, also aligns with growing consumer and industry demand for environmentally conscious building solutions. By educating specifiers and distributors, Humboldt Sawmill is not just promoting a product but also advocating for sustainable forestry practices and the long-term benefits of natural wood. This initiative could contribute to a greater appreciation for traditional building materials in an era dominated by synthetic alternatives, highlighting the aesthetic, structural, and environmental advantages of redwood. The program also underscores the importance of continuous professional development in the building industry, where material science and application techniques are constantly evolving.
