Visitors to Tyrella Beach in County Down are being encouraged to participate in a citizen science project aimed at tracking coastal changes. By taking photos through a fixed frame and uploading them to a designated website, beachgoers contribute to a global
effort to monitor coastal erosion, rising sea levels, and climate change impacts. Led by geomorphologist Melanie Biausque from Geological Survey Northern Ireland, the project seeks to harness the power of regular beach visitors to enhance scientific understanding of coastline dynamics. Open days are planned to educate the public on how to engage with the project.
