What's Happening?
Penn State University has been awarded a $20 million grant from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) to lead a research project focused on integrating artificial intelligence into scientific discovery. The initiative, part of the NSF's Genesis Mission,
aims to establish a network of AI-enabled programmable cloud laboratories across the United States. Distinguished Professor Joan Redwing will spearhead the project, which involves collaboration with over 20 academic, government, and industry partners. The grant will fund the creation of the Layered and Thin-film Technologies with Intelligent Cloud Experimentation (LATTICE) laboratory at Penn State, designed to facilitate remote experimentation and study of thin-film materials crucial for semiconductor development.
