Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is planning to establish a team of forward-deployed engineers (FDEs) that could number between 5,900 and 8,900 employees. This initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) among its clients.
According to K. Krithivasan, the chief executive of TCS, the company intends to allocate 1% to 1.5% of its workforce, which totals approximately 593,000, to this new team. The FDEs will work within client organizations to deploy and maintain AI tools tailored to specific organizational needs, sharing best practices and sectoral knowledge. TCS is also exploring acquisitions in AI, cybersecurity, and data security to bolster its capabilities. The company recently completed a $700 million acquisition of Coastal Cloud, a U.S.-based Salesforce consulting firm.
