What's Happening?
The Arizona Cardinals have commenced the initial concrete pour for their new Dignity Health Arizona Cardinals Performance Center in north Phoenix. This facility, situated near Scottsdale Road and the Loop 101 Pima Freeway, is slated to open in the summer
of 2028. The new center will replace the team's long-standing facility in Tempe. Features of the performance center will include three outdoor grass practice fields, an indoor turf field within a fieldhouse, an expanded locker room, dining areas, meeting rooms, a player lounge, and dedicated spaces for athletic training, sports medicine, and strength and conditioning. The Cardinals broke ground on this practice facility in February, having acquired a 217-acre parcel of land at a state auction last year. Thirty of these acres are allocated for the performance center and the team's headquarters. Additionally, Dignity Health plans to construct a 300,000-square-foot medical campus on the site, which will house a sports medicine institute and Barrow Neurological Institute services, imaging, and outpatient surgery, with phase one of its construction beginning in 2027. Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill noted that the construction will be highly visible from major roadways and is expected to significantly impact the area.
