The Andrean High School baseball team faced significant challenges after a tornado caused severe damage to their school and field on June 11. Despite these setbacks, the team reached the Class 3A state championship game. Andrean's junior third baseman,
Chase Nelson, highlighted the team's resilience and unity in the face of adversity. However, the team was unable to secure a victory, losing 9-3 to Guerin Catholic High School. This marked Guerin's first state championship win. Andrean's coach, Dave Pishkur, acknowledged Guerin's superior performance, noting their strong pitching and hitting lineup. The loss was particularly poignant as Andrean aimed to secure a record-setting 10th state title. Despite the defeat, Nelson and his teammates valued the experience and the opportunity to compete at a high level.
