Valve has issued a warning regarding the ongoing memory and storage supply crisis, which is reportedly worsening. According to Valve engineer Yazan Aldehayyat, the retail prices currently seen on shelves are lagging behind the bulk component market by
three to six months. This delay means that the prices of DRAM and storage products are based on older inventory, not reflecting the current higher costs faced by hardware manufacturers. Valve has experienced these challenges firsthand while preparing the Steam Machine for production, which led to higher-than-expected retail prices. The company has sold all produced units but has not disclosed shipment numbers, with production limited by available memory components.
