What's Happening?
Great Southern Mining has commenced a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at its Mon Ami Gold Project, located 12 kilometers south of Laverton in Western Australia. The 3,000-meter drilling initiative aims to explore extensions of known mineralization
within the existing JORC resource, which currently stands at 1.56 million tonnes at 1.11 grams per tonne of gold, totaling 55,500 ounces. The program will also investigate targets 250 meters north of the current resource. Mon Ami is situated on the Barnicoat Shear, a geological feature that hosts several gold deposits, including the Barnicoat Mine and Ida H Mine owned by Genesis Minerals. This drilling is part of a broader campaign across Great Southern's Western Australian projects, which will include up to 20,000 meters of RC drilling. Following the Mon Ami program, the drill rig will move to the Golden Boulder and Amy Clarke discoveries, where mineralization has been identified over 3.5 kilometers and 4.7 kilometers, respectively. Great Southern Mining is fully funded for these activities, having completed a $4.6 million equity placement.
Why It's Important?
The initiation of drilling at the Mon Ami Gold Project is significant for Great Southern Mining as it represents a strategic effort to expand its resource base and enhance its exploration portfolio in Western Australia. The project's proximity to multiple operating and emerging gold processing facilities could facilitate efficient resource development and potential future production. This drilling program is crucial for the company to validate and potentially increase its gold reserves, which could enhance its market position and attract further investment. The success of this initiative could have broader implications for the regional mining industry, potentially leading to increased economic activity and job creation in the Laverton area. Additionally, the exploration efforts align with the global demand for gold, driven by its status as a safe-haven asset amid economic uncertainties.
What's Next?
Following the completion of the three-week drilling program at Mon Ami, Great Southern Mining plans to mobilize the drill rig to the Golden Boulder and Amy Clarke discoveries. These sites have shown promising mineralization over several kilometers, and further exploration could lead to significant resource delineation. The company is expected to continue its exploration activities across its Western Australian projects, leveraging its fully funded status to pursue aggressive drilling campaigns. Stakeholders, including investors and local communities, will likely monitor the outcomes of these programs closely, as successful results could lead to further development and potential production phases. The company may also engage in strategic partnerships or additional funding rounds to support its long-term exploration and development goals.
