Ultrahuman, an Indian startup known for its smart rings, has secured $70 million in a new funding round, with Qualcomm Ventures among the key investors. This investment values Ultrahuman at $365 million, a significant increase from its $120 million valuation
in 2023. The funding, comprising $65 million in primary equity and $5 million in debt, also saw participation from U.S. diagnostics giant Labcorp, Alpha Wave, Blume Ventures, Nexus Venture Partners, and Alteria Capital. Ultrahuman's primary objective is to transform smart rings from basic health and sleep trackers into sophisticated computing devices capable of running software directly on the hardware. The company is collaborating with Qualcomm to develop a new ring that will incorporate Qualcomm's silicon, enhancing the device's processing power and reducing its reliance on smartphones or cloud services. This strategic move aims to enable advanced functionalities such as AI interactions, gaming, and even serving as a pointer or car key, moving beyond the current scope of health monitoring.

Ultrahuman expects to return to its previous U.S. sales volumes in the next quarter and aims to triple those volumes over the subsequent four quarters as it increases supply. The company is also exploring closer collaborations with Labcorp to integrate wearable data with blood test results for enhanced health diagnostics. Although Ultrahuman may not be profitable this year due to investments in physical locations, branding, and clinical studies, it aims for profitability within the next eight to ten quarters, with a potential IPO window as early as 2028.
