What's Happening?
The Tire Industry Association (TIA) and the Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau (TRIB) are actively seeking legislative support for bills aimed at promoting the use of retreaded tires. The Resilient Tire Supply and Jobs Act, introduced in September
2025, and the Retreaded Tire Jobs, Supply Chain Security and Sustainability Act of 2025, introduced in May 2025, are both awaiting committee action. These bills have garnered support from several lawmakers, including Rep. Darin LaHood (R-IL) and Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH). The TIA and TRIB are exploring various legislative vehicles to advance these bills, such as the fiscal year 2027 budget reconciliation framework and the National Defense Authorization Act.
