The Book Industry Study Group (BISG) has partnered with BookNet Canada to conduct a comprehensive survey aimed at understanding the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the book industry. This initiative follows a previous survey conducted in 2025,
which garnered 559 responses. The current survey is open to professionals across various sectors of the book industry, including publishing, bookselling, distribution, manufacturing, and libraries. The survey seeks to gather insights on AI adoption, emerging opportunities, and challenges within the industry. Allison Belan, executive director of BISG, emphasized the importance of this research in identifying trends and supporting the development of resources to help organizations navigate AI responsibly and effectively.
