Cairns Airport recently hosted live ensemble performances to mark the opening of the Australian Festival of Chamber Music (AFCM). This event is being held in Cairns for the first time, running from July 24 to August 1. The festival is expected to significantly
boost the local economy, with projections of over $3 million in economic impact. The event has attracted a large audience, with nearly 80% of ticket holders traveling from interstate and 15% from other parts of Queensland. The festival features performances at various locations, including the Cairns Performing Arts Centre and Saint Monica’s Cathedral, and includes over 30 musicians from Australia and international artists from countries such as Germany, France, and the United States.
