What's Happening?
MSC Cruises has announced a collaboration with Italian chocolate maker Venchi to create the largest chocolate store experience at sea aboard the MSC World Asia. This new venue will be the first Venchi store to debut on a World Class ship and will feature
seating for over 60 guests. The store will offer a variety of chocolate-related experiences, including a live chocolate-making demonstration where guests can create their own custom chocolate bars using premium ingredients like Venchi chocolate caviar. Additionally, the store will provide a café and lounge area serving coffee, croissants, and crêpes, as well as chocolate-infused cocktails in the evening. The partnership also includes the launch of a new gelato flavor, 'Crunchy Waves,' which will be available in select Venchi stores in the US, UK, France, and Italy starting in August. The MSC World Asia is set to sail from December 4, with bookings already open.
Why It's Important?
This partnership between MSC Cruises and Venchi highlights the growing trend of luxury and experiential offerings in the cruise industry. By incorporating a high-end chocolate experience, MSC Cruises aims to enhance its onboard amenities and attract a broader range of passengers seeking unique and indulgent experiences. This move could set a precedent for other cruise lines to form similar partnerships, potentially leading to a diversification of onboard offerings across the industry. For Venchi, this collaboration provides an opportunity to expand its brand presence and reach a global audience through MSC's extensive cruise network. The introduction of exclusive products like the 'Crunchy Waves' gelato flavor also allows Venchi to showcase its innovation in confectionery.
What's Next?
As the MSC World Asia prepares for its maiden voyage in December, the cruise line will likely focus on marketing this new chocolate experience to potential passengers. The success of this venture could influence MSC Cruises to explore additional partnerships with other luxury brands, further enhancing its onboard offerings. Additionally, the reception of the 'Crunchy Waves' gelato flavor in international markets could lead to its permanent addition to Venchi's product lineup if it proves popular. Other cruise lines may observe the outcome of this collaboration and consider similar strategies to differentiate their services in a competitive market.
