What's Happening?
Kerlux, a Spanish manufacturer specializing in SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) flooring solutions, has entered into a licensing agreement with Unilin Technologies for its Uniclic and Unidrop locking technologies. This strategic move aims to enhance the
quality and performance of Kerlux's flooring products. The company, based in Castellón, Spain, has already commenced commercial production of SPC flooring featuring the Uniclic system. Andrés Hernandez, managing director at Kerlux, stated that this agreement reinforces their commitment to investing in technologies that improve product value and performance. He emphasized that Uniclic is a recognized locking solution known for its reliability, ease of installation, and consumer satisfaction. Products incorporating Uniclic are expected to be available in stores starting November 1.
Why It's Important?
This adoption of Uniclic and Unidrop technologies is significant for Kerlux as it allows them to integrate industry-standard, high-quality locking systems into their SPC flooring. Uniclic, developed by Unilin Technologies, is widely recognized for its one-piece locking system that facilitates easy installation, ensures strong connections, and offers long-term performance for floating floors. By licensing these proven technologies, Kerlux can enhance its product competitiveness, meet growing consumer demand for durable and easy-to-install flooring, and potentially expand its market share. For the broader flooring industry, such licensing agreements underscore the importance of technological innovation in manufacturing and the value of established intellectual property in improving product standards. This move also highlights the global nature of flooring technology, with Spanish manufacturers leveraging Belgian innovations to serve a worldwide market.
What's Next?
Kerlux's SPC flooring products featuring Uniclic technology are scheduled to hit stores on November 1. The company's factory has an annual production capacity of 2 million square meters and exports products globally, indicating a wide reach for these new offerings. The integration of Unidrop technology will likely follow, further expanding Kerlux's portfolio of advanced flooring solutions. As part of Grespania S.A., an industrial group, Kerlux's investment in high-end coverings for architecture, interior design, and home renovation applications is expected to continue. This strategic enhancement of their product line is anticipated to strengthen Kerlux's position in the competitive SPC flooring market and cater to a global customer base seeking durable and water-resistant flooring options.
