What's Happening?
Avincis, an aerial services provider, has announced a significant fleet renewal plan by placing orders with Airbus and Leonardo for up to 30 new helicopters. The order includes up to 15 Airbus H145 light-twin helicopters, which will be utilized across
Avincis's operations in the Nordics, Italy, and Spain for emergency medical services (EMS) and offshore transport missions. Additionally, the deal with Leonardo involves 10 AW169 medium-twin helicopters and five larger AW139 intermediate-twin helicopters. The deliveries of these helicopters are expected to occur between 2028 and 2031. Avincis plans to deploy the AW169s in Sweden to support a 10-year contract for EMS operations in the Uppsala and Vastra Gotalandsregionen regions. The company has not disclosed the base locations for the AW139s. Avincis, headquartered in Lisbon, Portugal, is already an operator of all three helicopter types.
Why It's Important?
This fleet renewal plan by Avincis underscores the growing demand for advanced aerial services in Europe, particularly in the EMS and offshore transport sectors. By investing in new helicopters, Avincis aims to enhance its operational capabilities and service offerings, which could lead to improved emergency response times and more efficient offshore transport solutions. The strategic partnerships with Airbus and Leonardo also highlight the importance of collaboration between aerial service providers and aircraft manufacturers in meeting the evolving needs of the industry. This move could potentially set a precedent for other aerial service providers to upgrade their fleets, thereby boosting the demand for new helicopter models and fostering innovation in the aerospace sector.
What's Next?
As Avincis prepares for the delivery of these new helicopters, the company will likely focus on integrating them into its existing operations and training its personnel to handle the advanced technology. The deployment of the AW169s in Sweden for EMS operations will require coordination with local authorities and healthcare providers to ensure seamless service delivery. Additionally, Avincis may explore further opportunities to expand its service offerings in other regions, leveraging its enhanced fleet capabilities. The successful implementation of this fleet renewal plan could position Avincis as a leader in the aerial services industry, potentially attracting new contracts and partnerships.
