What's Happening?
Angani Ltd, a leading cloud services provider in East Africa, has joined the London Internet Exchange (LINX) Nairobi interconnection hub. This move is part of Angani's strategy to enhance its network capabilities by connecting to key locations. Angani,
which first connected to LINX Mombasa in 2025, aims to support low-latency and reliable services for its customers by peering across these hubs. LINX Nairobi, launched in 2023, provides a resilient internet exchange point (IXP) accessible from multiple data centers in Kenya's capital. The addition of Angani to LINX Nairobi is expected to strengthen the region's digital infrastructure, offering greater choice and control over traffic movement within Kenya and beyond.
Why It's Important?
Angani's integration into the LINX Nairobi hub is significant for the digital landscape in East Africa. By enhancing local peering capabilities, Angani can deliver faster and more reliable digital services, reducing reliance on international transit routes. This development is crucial for supporting the region's growing demand for high-quality interconnection services. It also highlights the importance of local infrastructure in improving internet access and service delivery. The move is likely to benefit businesses and consumers by providing improved access to cloud services and international content delivery networks (CDNs), thereby fostering economic growth and digital innovation in the region.
