Canadian space technology company MDA Space has announced its intention to acquire U.S.-based Blue Canyon Technologies from RTX's Raytheon business for $620 million in cash. This strategic acquisition aims to expand MDA Space's footprint in the U.S. defense
space market. Blue Canyon Technologies, founded in 2008 and based in Colorado, specializes in designing and building small satellites, spacecraft buses, and mission systems for commercial, civil, and defense customers. The acquisition is expected to close by the end of 2026, pending regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. MDA Space anticipates that the acquisition will add approximately $3.5 billion to its opportunity pipeline and will be accretive to adjusted EBITDA and adjusted earnings per share by 2027.
