The University of Georgia Press has announced the creation of a new endowment to support the Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction. The Debbie and John Edwards Endowment will cover costs associated with publishing and promoting the award-winning short
story collections, including editorial, design, and marketing expenses. This $100,000 gift will also facilitate author travel to Georgia for book launch events and expand the visibility of the award. The Flannery O'Connor Award, established in 1983, has published over seventy short-story collections and continues to be a significant platform for emerging authors. Notable past judges include Roxane Gay and Lori Ostlund.
