ExxonMobil has announced a Final Investment Decision to expand the blending capacity of its proprietary polyolefin thermoset resin system, Proxxima, in Louisiana. This expansion will add 120,000 tons per year of Proxxima's blending capacity, aiming to meet
growing customer demand for the material. Proxxima, launched in 2023, is a high-performance alternative to traditional materials like epoxy, polyurethane, vinyl ester, and polyester. It is designed to make products stronger and lighter, with current applications spanning wind turbine components, subsea pipeline coatings, rebar, automotive parts, and industrial coatings. This move follows the completion of the first phase of Proxxima's scale-up, which included the retrofit and expansion of a blending facility in Texas and the establishment of a raw materials facility, both operational in 2025.
