What's Happening?
Elmet Technologies, a subsidiary of The Elmet Group, is set to enhance its production capabilities for hypersonic vehicle parts by deploying the DMP Flex 350 Triple metal additive manufacturing machine from 3D Systems. This initiative aims to streamline
the supply chain and enable rapid production of advanced aerospace components. The collaboration focuses on utilizing a high-performance C103 material, a niobium-based alloy, which is crucial for high-temperature aerospace applications. Elmet Technologies has been working with 3D Systems' Application Innovation Group to develop processing parameters for this material, ensuring efficient production. The deployment of the DMP Flex 350 Triple, with its low oxygen environment and large build size, is expected to facilitate fast qualification and certification of the production process, with plans to begin production in 2026.
