The Shifted Horizon House, designed by A-I-R (Architecture-Infrastructure-Research), is a newly completed minimalist home located outside Phoenix, Arizona. The house, designed by Darren Petrucci, is built to harmonize with the desert environment, featuring
a block-built, textured, and monolithic appearance. The design maximizes the horizontal distance of the lot to capture views of Camelback Mountain, creating a ridge line across the hill. The home incorporates materials like concrete masonry units and stucco, which are used to create a textured, fabric-like pattern on the walls. The design emphasizes simplicity and functionality, with features like a 'wet edge' pool and a dramatic fireplace that align with the kitchen island and television, creating a holistic living space.
