What's Happening?
Emerita Resources has announced significant high-grade copper findings at its El Cura deposit in Spain, part of the Iberian Belt West Project. The company reported intersecting 3.9 meters at 3.8% copper, 0.9% lead, 1.6% zinc, 2.81 grams per tonne gold,
and 71.26 grams per tonne silver, with a notable section of 2.6 meters at 5.5% copper. These results are part of a broader drilling campaign aimed at advancing the project towards a Prefeasibility Study (PFS), expected to be completed in the third quarter. The drilling has completed over 100 holes totaling 37,329 meters, providing better definition and continuity in the deposit's upper-central portion. The public consultation phase for environmental authorization has concluded, with feedback submitted to the Andalucian Environment Department for review.
Why It's Important?
The discovery of high-grade copper at El Cura is significant for Emerita Resources as it strengthens the potential of the Iberian Belt West Project. This project is crucial for the company’s growth strategy, potentially increasing its resource base and enhancing its market position in the base metals sector. The successful completion of the environmental consultation phase is a critical step towards securing the necessary social license to advance the project. This development could have broader implications for the mining industry in Spain, potentially attracting further investment and exploration activities in the region.
What's Next?
Following the environmental review, interested parties will have a 15-day hearing period before a final decision is made. Emerita Resources will continue to engage with local stakeholders to address any concerns and secure community support. The company aims to complete the Prefeasibility Study by the third quarter, which will guide future development and investment decisions. The ongoing exploration and potential resource expansion at El Cura could lead to further drilling and development activities, contingent on regulatory approvals and market conditions.
