NVIDIA, in collaboration with Google and Microsoft, is advancing AI factory infrastructure by developing an 800 VDC power architecture. This new system is designed to enhance compute performance and power density
in AI factories, which traditionally rely on AC distribution. The 800 VDC architecture simplifies power delivery by reducing conversion stages, allowing more power to reach computing units. This initiative is part of the Open Compute Project (OCP), with over 80 companies involved in building products to this specification. The new power rack, compatible with existing AC infrastructure, is set to be available in the second half of 2026, providing a hybrid solution that preserves current investments while enabling higher compute density.
