Hyundai Motor and Kia recently concluded their first in-house vehicle app development contest, the '24H Code Race,' held at Pangyo Techone in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. The hackathon, which took place on the 20th and 21st, saw 25 teams and approximately
100 employees participate. The event aimed to foster innovation for the 'App Market,' an open app ecosystem integrated into Hyundai Motor Group's next-generation infotainment system, 'Pleos Connect,' and to cultivate a software-centric organizational culture. Out of 220 initial ideas submitted in July, 25 teams were selected for the finals. Participants developed prototype vehicle-specific apps within a 24-hour timeframe. The apps were judged on originality, customer value, marketability, and completeness. The grand prize was awarded to 'TaleSync,' an interactive audio story service designed for in-vehicle use, which dynamically adjusts its narrative based on real-time driving data and children's reactions, ensuring stories conclude upon reaching the destination. Excellence awards were given to 'Baby Sound Sleep Drive,' 'Majung,' and 'AcciT.'
