Bright Saver, a California-based nonprofit, is expanding the availability of its plug-in balcony solar kits across most of the United States. The organization has introduced a $29 annual membership that allows consumers to purchase these kits at near-wholesale
prices, significantly reducing the upfront cost. The kits, which can be mounted on railings or fences, are available in two sizes: a 180-watt kit for $285.30 and a 360-watt kit for $414.17, with membership. Without the membership, these kits are priced at $499 and $699, respectively. The initiative aims to make solar energy more accessible to renters, condo residents, and homeowners who may find traditional rooftop solar systems too expensive or complex. Preorders for the kits are expected to ship in late August, although they will not be available in Maine, New York, or Vermont due to state regulations.
