Newman University has announced the establishment of The Newman Institute for AI and the Common Good, following approval from its Board of Trustees and backed by third-party financing. This new institute aims to address the growing demand for AI training
among Kansas businesses. A regional survey highlighted that 81% of employers are already using or testing AI tools, yet 68% require further training. The institute will leverage Newman's existing educational programs, including a Master of Science in Applied AI and AI bootcamps, to bridge the skills gap. The initiative is supported by U.S. Senator Jerry Moran, who is advocating for $1.6 million in federal funding to bolster the institute's efforts.
