Primate Labs has launched Geekbench 7, an updated version of its benchmarking software designed to better reflect the performance of CPUs and GPUs in everyday tasks, gaming, and AI workloads. This release follows Geekbench 6, which was introduced in early
2023. The new version includes both new and improved workloads, emphasizing machine learning and content creation. Notable updates include the addition of Nvidia's CUDA to the list of supported GPU APIs, alongside OpenCL, Vulkan, and Metal. Geekbench 7 also introduces new GPU image editing and synthesis workloads, such as RAW image processing and video color grading. Furthermore, the software now handles multi-core performance more accurately by running workloads across multiple threads only when the real-world task typically does the same. The update also expands the size and variety of data sets used in tests, enhancing the accuracy of performance measurements.
