What's Happening?
The Kootenay U17 Box Lacrosse team, representing Zone 1, achieved a silver medal at the 2026 BC Summer Games held in Kelowna. The team, comprising athletes from Cranbrook, Kimberley, and the West Kootenay, made history by going undefeated in the preliminary
rounds. They secured victories against Thompson-Okanagan, Fraser Valley, and Team Indigenous. Despite their strong performance, the team was ultimately defeated by Vancouver Island in the gold medal match. The Kootenay team, consisting of 19 players from a small pool of 28 in their zone, demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork throughout the competition.
