Universal Studios Orlando has commenced land preparation for a new attraction within the Dark Universe section of its upcoming Epic Universe theme park. This development follows the approval of permits for 'early work purposes of a future attraction known
as Project 680,' which is described as a three-story structure with a 'Ride Maintenance Bay on the first floor.' The building, labeled as Building 1570, is projected to be 93,308 square feet, with 71,500 square feet designated for tenant usable space. The expansion plot, measuring 3.34 acres, is situated between 'Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment' and 'The Burning Blade Tavern.' Additionally, three statues from the former Monsters Cafe—Frankenstein’s Monster, The Wolfman, and Creature from the Black Lagoon—have been relocated to this area and are expected to find a new home within a nearby Team Member grill location. Rumors suggest the new indoor attraction could be either a boat ride or a roller coaster, with permit listings supporting the theory of an indoor facility.
