What's Happening?
Paramount+ has announced that 'Billie Eilish — Hit Me Hard And Soft: The Tour (Live)' will be available for streaming starting August 6. The concert film, which was initially released in theaters on May
8, has grossed $10 million in the United States and Canada, and $27 million worldwide. Co-directed by Billie Eilish and James Cameron, the film captures performances from Eilish's sold-out tour, filmed in Manchester, England, and Phoenix, Arizona. The project is notable for its use of virtual reality 3D technology, developed in collaboration with Meta Platforms and Cameron's Lightstorm Vision, aiming to provide an immersive experience for viewers. This marks Eilish's third concert film, following 'Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles' and 'Billie Eilish: Live at the O2'.
Why It's Important?
The release of 'Hit Me Hard and Soft' on Paramount+ highlights the growing trend of streaming platforms investing in exclusive music content to attract subscribers. This move not only expands Eilish's reach to a broader audience but also underscores the importance of innovative technology in enhancing viewer experience. The collaboration with James Cameron and the use of virtual reality technology could set a new standard for concert films, potentially influencing future productions. For Paramount+, this addition strengthens its music content portfolio, which includes various scripted and documentary films, positioning the platform as a key player in the competitive streaming market.
