DiJulius approached New York-based design duo Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell of Tanner Fletcher with the idea of transforming the elaborate gown, which featured large puff sleeves, lace, and extensive beading, into a bespoke tuxedo. The designers embraced the challenge, weaving elements of the dress into the tuxedo design. DiJulius expressed gratitude for the abundance of fabric from the '80s-style dress, which provided ample material for the transformation.
