The Bank of Korea has announced key leadership changes, appointing Lee Dae-gun as the new head of its financial markets department and Kim Shin-young as the director general of the international department. Lee Dae-gun, previously the deputy director general of the financial services
department, joined the central bank in 2000. He holds degrees in agricultural economics and economics, along with an MBA from KAIST. His experience spans the financial stability department, financial markets department, and the sustainable growth office. Kim Shin-young, who was the head of the foreign exchange analysis division at the international department, joined the central bank in 2002. Kim, born in 1974, graduated from Sungkyunkwan University with an economics degree and holds an MBA from KAIST. Kim has served in the international department, the reserves management group, and the New York office, gaining experience in currency market management. These appointments follow earlier changes where Choi Young-joo, the former head of the financial markets department, was named deputy governor for international finance and cooperation, and Yoon Kyung-soo, the former head of the international department, became president of the Economic Research Institute.
