Over his AHL career, Schmidt has participated in 98 games, recording nine points and 173 penalty minutes. Before turning professional, Schmidt played in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Kitchener Rangers and Kingston Frontenacs, where he accumulated 93 points over three seasons. He was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the third round of the 2021 NHL Draft.
