What's Happening?
Blue Energy, in collaboration with GE Vernova, has announced a significant energy project at the Port of Victoria, Texas, aimed at integrating gas and nuclear power to support AI infrastructure. The project, unveiled in May 2026, involves a phased development
of a 2.5 GW 'gas-plus-nuclear' facility. This includes the installation of two GE Vernova 7HA.02 gas turbines, expected to generate approximately 1 GW of power by 2030, and up to five GE Vernova Hitachi BWRX-300 small modular reactors (SMRs), projected to add 1.5 GW of nuclear power by 2032. The site, previously considered for nuclear development by Exelon Nuclear Texas Holdings, benefits from existing infrastructure investments and permits. Blue Energy's strategic partner, Crusoe, a major AI infrastructure provider, has committed to purchasing power from this project, contingent on meeting commercial and operational standards.
